Over the last 20 years, Taiwan-related studies have grown significantly, attracting international scholarly attention. In March this year, Taipei Economic and Trade Office (TETO) set up the first Taiwan Center in Indonesia at Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS). In order to enrich the activities in this Taiwan center, TETO and UNS agreed to sign the MoA to launch a new Taiwan Studies project from August 1, 2017 sponsored by Taiwan Ministry of Education. Through this project, UNS will be one of the authorized channels to carry out various Taiwan Studies related activities including Course development, Scholarly visits, and Taiwan Studies publications to develop wider and sustained scholarly interest in the study, research and teaching of the politics, culture, society, external relations and economy of Taiwan. 

Menjawab kebutuhan masyarakat terhadap tes kemampuan berbahasa Mandarin, Ukrida melalui Pusat Pengembangan Materi Pembelajaran bekerjasama dengan Taiwan Education Center (TEC) menggelar Test of Chinese as a Foreign Language (ToCFL). Adapun ToCFL merupakan tes kemampuan berbahasa Mandarin tradisional atau simplified yang terbagi ke dalam tiga proficiency band, yaitu band A, B, dan C. ToCFL yang diadakan Ukrida dan TEC pada tanggal 11 November 2017 telah menerapkan sistem computer based test (CBT) dimana hal ini merupakan suatu terobosan yang baru pertama kali diadakan di Indonesia. Sebelumnya, ToCFL masih dilakukan secara manual (paper based). Adapun peserta tes berjumlah 64 orang, berasal dari berbagai sekolah dan universitas di Jabodetabek. Tes yang berlangsung selama hampir dua jam diikuti dengan antusias oleh seluruh peserta. Sejumlah guru dan orangtua turut mendampingi putra/i dan siswa/i-nya untuk mengikuti tes ini. The first public University founded after Taiwan’s economic boom in the 1980′s, National Chung Cheng University broke ground after the Executive Yuan passed the plan to build the university in 1986 in honor of the late president CHIANG Kai-Shek and to develop higher education in the Yun-lin, Chia-yi, and Tainan areas. N ational Taiwan Ocean University (NTOU) was established in 1953 as Provincial Taiwan Maritime Technology College. Eleven years later, in 1964, we became a maritime college that offered bachelor's and master's degrees in various maritime fields.
